Yeah, yeah they went to post essays on their blogs to practice so I'm gonna do it too. Albeit a tad late.

It's a one word essay on "enchantment".

Enchantment

War was being waged. Panic and pandemonium was rife throughout the land, spreading like an infectious disease. After countless days of being rained down by myriads of metallic, podgy droplets of nuclear shells, my family decided that it was to our best interests if we relocated. My younger sister, older brother and I were to be sent to stay with a distant relative, a man who went by the name of “Tom Riddle”. Curious name, if you asked me. Nevertheless, I had little choice and accepted my parents’ decisions.

The ride there via train wasn’t a lovely experience, especially since I was prone to motion-sickness. Nonetheless, we had managed to escape our belligerent state to seek refuge in neutral Switzerland. At least here, we would be safe.

Or so I thought.

Once we arrived at the train station, we were escorted by our distant relative’s chauffeur in a classy automobile. Judging by this encounter, our relative must be making some decent money, I mused. Though my musing was partially correct, it was far from accurate. My relative was indeed making really decent money, I mused once more, as the car came to an abrupt halt in front of a tall, handsome manor.

As we trudged up the snow-covered cobblestoned pathway, luggage in hand, I could not help but to stare wide-eyed at the looming manor. On one hand, it was a magnificent building noticeably made with skilled workmanship, and it induced a feeling of awe within me. Yet on the other hand, its towering presence seemed to fill me with vibes of apprehension.

After rasping the polished oaken doors with its brass handles, a man came out and greeted us with a warm smile. He was a portly man, with a rubicund visage, and did not seem like anything of a bigot. He hurried us in to the warm, cozy living room, mumbling about “not wanting us to catch a cold”. He gave a brief tour of the manor and gave us the freedom to explore the parts he missed out. However, he did set restrictions. Waggling his finger sternly, his tone became suddenly serious, as he warned us “not to enter the library on the last floor”.

“Pray tell, why should we not?” I questioned, meekly.

Giving us a furtive glance, he ignored our question and announced that dinner would be served at half-past six in the dining hall, before residing back to his personal quarters.

Days went by with us whiling our time away by exploring the manor. To our surprise, we found many interesting rooms, such as one boasting a range of nautical charts and maps; and another choked full of stuffed animals. These out-of-the-ordinary rooms piqued my interest about the “Forbidden Room”, a name we gave to the library on the last floor.

The first rays of breaking dawn crept through the undrawn curtains and fell upon my closed eyes. I pried them open unwillingly, and sat up, partially disoriented. Seeing that my siblings were still deep in slumber, I decided to do some self-exploration of the manor. Unsurprisingly, I decided to venture around the last floor.

A gust of ominous cold wind washed over me as I made my way along the creaking floorboards. Looking around, I noticed that the door to the library had swung open-“must be the wind,” I told myself.

Or so I thought.

I inched my way to the entrance of the library.

“Whatever you do, don’t enter the library on the last floor”.

The stern warning spoken by Tom resounded in my head, and replayed countless times. Yet…

I took a step forward. The suspense of the shrouded origins behind this warning fuelled my resolution to uncover the mystery behind it all.

I made my way forward hastily, throwing furtive glances around me, in an attempt to make out my surroundings. A structure in the middle of the library caught my eye; a lecturn, borne on top a raised platform. I picked up my speed and brisk-walked towards it, trotting up the miniscule steps and circled around the lectern. It held an archaic bestiary, adorned with intricate patterns. Naturally, I flipped the ancient volume open.

It was a fairytale. Beautifully hand-drawn illustrations plastered every page, filling the book with kaleidoscopic colours. I was enchanted by the pictures. Pictures of fairies, phoenixes, dragons and mythical beings were imprinted on every surface. However, there was one thing I noticed- the book had no words. Puzzled, yet fixated on the illustrations, I shoved the thought away and continued admiring the art.

Queerly, the more I read, the more the illustrations seemed to look lifelike. It appeared as if the illustrations of the book had leaked out of its pages, and materialised inside the library. The walls of the library were no longer choked full of books; in its place, were endless miles of luscious plains, stretching to the far ends of the horizon. Dryads were dancing in the wind, dragons soared above my head, minotaurs trudged around the field. It was a spectacular sight to behold. I realized that the pictures I had seen as a kid in books pertaining to mythical creatures were drawn with almost comical inexactitude; they carried an air of magnificence, a far cry from the inaccurate depictions in children’s fairytale books.

“I wish I could stay here forever,” I wondered aloud, mesmerized by the surroundings.

Little did I know that I was being sucked into the bestiary, and not what I had thought about the illustrations materialising. I was oblivious that I was under the enchantment of the book, until it was too late to turn back.

As I uttered my wish, an invisible quill etched my spoken words onto the page of the book.

The page flipped and the book closed, with a thud that resonated through the eerily empty library. What I was shocked to see was that I had been flipped, along with the page.

Alas, I was stuck in the book, possibly for eternity.

“Curiosity killed the cat.” If only I had heeded those words.

So... at the end of pirates 3, they showed sparrow with the map leading to the fountain of youth.... I think the fountain water would be given to Elizabeth and her son? cause Will would be "immortal" and Eliz would die one day... so give her the water and they live forever! ta-dah! mauahhaha. Ok yea.....

I was thinking abt adding some music which might suit the theme for this blog... it's sup. to be very relaxed kinda thing... so sadly no loud pop/rock... I was thinking maybe something in he middle like lucky by Jason Mraz+ Colbie or Boston by Augustana.... I was also thinking of Love Song but it didn't seem to relaxing ya know. Maybe i shld just add a playlist..heh... (First song I actually wanted to put was How I go by yellowcard... then I thought abt the theme) gogo vote.

On Friday, PLAYED TENNIS FOR LIKE 3-4 HOURS UNTIL MY HAND WAS SORE AND I HAD SQUASH LESSONS THE NEXT DAY...ZZZZZ...
On Saturday, I went ta Hilton for their jap buffet. ALL THE IKURA!!!! MUAHAHAHA. They had this nice choc. cakes that came in small rectangular shapes with gold dust on top, a very random piece of POPCORN(LOLLLL) below the dust and dark choc with some pecans(shld have kicked this one out). They had nice-looking digusting tasting macaroons made up of-guess what- WASABI *bleh* After dinner we were walking in the lobby talking about how some of those handbag shops have awfully gaudy and huge handbags. Then my sis and I saw this woman which looked like a rich indonesian, cause she dressed like those tai-tai's, but then we saw her walking to this causcasian and they shook hands and entered the lift. We then realised she was a.......you-know-whatta. those ppl that dun know, remem the song Mark sang to one of the girls in our class when borrowing the ORCA books-I'm a (something) and you're a duck? remember that word? Yea, now say it in chinese, but pronounce it with a "Di si sheng"
Sunday, went to church, ate,gamed,homeworked... yea...err...hid at home so my Sis won't bug me to go to the range with her.. Oh and went to eat the fins of a poor shark... Actually I didn't want to eat it, but when I thought "What if one day I'm somehow in the middle of the sea and that shark that I was sup. to eat swims to me and rips me apart? Only one thought would come to my mind then-I should have eaten you, sharky¬(Not Ng May Gay, her sharky got a "e" "Sharkey")
Monday GOT MATH TESTTTTT SIANNN..... TWP made me IC for the snacks thingo and it was "POPPOP" some weird unheard corn snack thing. People felt that we were soo desparate to sell those(I think) that they donated $$ to us- or maybe their trying to act "Mr.I'm-so-rich-I-can-give-my-money-away. Today was tuesday... CHEM WAS FREAKKYYY THE SALT WAS EXPLODING EVERYWHERE!!! I tried to feed some to Zhou Zhi :D. Deborah and Lionel went to eat the salt LOLLLL.. Anyway, Mark scored 5 for Hot(Must be HB, I voted for that once) and 24 NOT. Conclusion- Mark is NOT HOT.

Prince Caspian

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian was quite nice, although it reminded me of Lord Of the Rings. Nice dwarfs and stuff, but the dwarfs looked useless when they fought, WHAT HAPPENED TO THEIR BATTLE AXES? The Minotaurs and centaurs looked quite errr... beastly?----That was a compliment. For an opening day for the show, it didn't seem very full.. maybe 7/8 full but not PACKED. There was ONE kissing scene, which was a little expected. The scenery was really good, think they filmed it in NZ cause the credits kept saying "New Zeland Unit etc." Didn't stay until end of credits.. I don't think there was anything.. I received some Exit Permit letter thing frm Mindef today... A very boring letter I must say... Anyways, the votes for the new poll is out!

Yesterday, before my CCA, I was Q-ing up for food at the rice stall when I heard a very familiar voice somewhere behind me laughing and saying "You don't know what is Masturbate?" "tell her what is masturbate!" 0_o
That was WRONNGGGGG. Anyways, today I would like to commemorate a very special event, which is the day Paully Pocket proposed to Vanessa Sim. :p He kissed her on her hand! Ack. Well, I really have to comment that he was VERY brave to kiss her hand. Somehow, it was disgusting. I'd rather kiss someone else's hand. heh.

Today was... ok lah... I guess. Mr.Gay Hua Bing almost led us to a GRAVEYARD. Good thing the instructor asked us to turn back. When we went up the hill, the Doggy with the injured ****** followed us and he bacame our escort and mascot. I am so honoured to have a group named after my works. The group "Muah Chee" even came in 1st. Sadly, there wasn't any group named after my other works, "King Kong", "Paully Pocket" etc. But still, Appa (Yip,yip.) still looks like a piece of Muah Chee. Especially when he is looking innocent. Lol. Yesterday, Matthias Tan in Puay Hon's group made up the tree song for them. You know the "Barney song"? He changed the lyrics into:"Kapok tree, Kapok tree, (chorus) Kapok Kapok, Kapok tree, with a "Ka" and a "Pok" and it makes the tree, that is what the tree should be." Lol. Hahahahahhahahaha. When he was singing it he was sooo serious- me and hua bing sang along. Heh.

Hua Bing is SOOOO DEAD.
